Thanks for looking/asking. Maybe this will help answer some questions. The picture that the camera captures isn't necessarily the photograph I want to display. I believe that post processing is important to reveal the photo that the camera helped exspose with a click of the shutter. So was the case in these day lilies. The original picture was shot outside in regular day light. It was not done in a studio (oh...if only I had one..., though sometimes my photos are shot in my home using available window light) nor against a black cloth. I positioned myself so that the flowers were against a dark shadowed background of some other flowers and bushes. I believe that the background in a photo is just as important as the subject. In Picasa and in Paint Shop Pro X I pushed the shadows to extreme dark. I then lowered the saturation, cropped, added contrast, histogram adjustment, sharpened, and the final result is what is in my mind that I wish to show and upload. Hope this helps...
